December 27th: Approach / Run Clinic led by 2012 Olympian Becky Holliday.
What is Run Club:
Run Club will consist of two (2) types of “workouts”, Acceleration (Run Club – Accel) and Approach (Run Club – Approach) and one (maybe both) of the days will include a general strength component. Due to the equipment needed, these workouts are in person only.
*If you need or want a plan written that is “on your own” please contact Collin and we can discuss it.
When is Run Club:
Run Club will be from 4:30 to 5:30/5:45pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays between October 10th and November 29th. You can see which session is on which day by looking at the calendar.
*We’ll look into have a second round of Run Club for December and January.
How much is Run Club:
Run Club will be available à la carte (single session drop-in) or comprehensive (all sessions). Single sessions will cost $30 per session. The comprehensive package (limited to 10 athletes) will be $300. *We will not be pro-rating the comprehensive package if you join it late, nor will be crediting à la carte sessions toward a late comprehensive add.
Who should participate in Run Club:
Short answer: anyone that wants to improve their approach / run up and is not currently in a fall sport.
Long answer: Run Club is designed to add structure and coaching to “off the runway” workouts that focus on how to run (with and without a pole). Someone who just started with Pole Vault Elite all the way up to our most tenured athletes will be able to become better at the Pole Vault Run Up (approach) in Run Club. However, approach days will be limited to 10 athletes, so not everyone CAN participate every day. Acceleration days will not be limited.
What will each type of workout be like in Run Club:
Approach Day workouts (limited to 10 athletes) will focus on the development and structure of the approach, including but not limited to posture, pole drop, cadence, and the plant/take off portions of the approach. We will be using poles during this workout.
Acceleration Day workouts (unlimited athletes) will focus on “how to run”. Similar to approach days, posture and cadence will be a focus but also the general technique of sprint mechanics and foot contact. We will be using a combination of sleds and resistance bands during these sessions.
How do I register for Run Club:
You should join the Run Club Remind Class if you are signed up for any session (single or all). This is how we will push any communication (weather / emergency reschedules / time adjustments).
À la carte: you will just need to go to the calendar, login, and click on the Run Club – Accel or Run Club – Approach class for the day you wish to attend and use the “Purchase class without a membership” option to reserve and pay for the session.
Comprehensive package: Click here to purchase it. Once you purchase the comprehensive package, it will auto enroll you in the session — you are expected to attend or remove yourself from the calendar if you can’t / won’t make it.
